List of Birds All the birds of North America are displayed in a scrollable list. Each bird is represented by a tile with a small icon, the common name of the bird and its scientific (Latin) name showing Genus and Species. A vertical list of the letters A - Z on the right allows you to jump to any location starting with the letter you click. Keyword Search Box A search field at the top of the Browse page allows you to enter the name of any bird. The app will attempt to narrow the list of species to just those common names containing the letters you enter. For example type "hum" to narrow the list to just the birds with "hum" in their common name, which will be the hummingbirds. The following is PRO only. Precede the text with the slash "/" character to search through genus and species names. For example typing "/pip" narrows the list to the 7 birds of the genius Pipilo but also includes Larus pipiixcan (Franklin's Gull). Precede the text with an ampersand "&" character to search by band code. First, Last and Family Buttons Includes five size categories representing length from tip of bill to end of tail. Select as few sizes as possible (one preferred) to optimize the search. Caution: bird size can be difficult to discern. Reset General habitat types in which birds are found. Select as few habitats as possible (one preferred) to optimize the search. Caution: many birds may be found in a wide variety of habitats, limiting the value of this attribute.
